I started reading a couple of the stories, and so I decided I really liked the magazines mission statement. Downloaded Twine, and am currently working on a IF story I may try to submit.

I love the idea of interactive fiction, and I’ve even played around with Twine before, so when I saw Sub-Q’s entry, I was over here like a flash.

My one critique – I found that reading the Ecclesiastes bits while I was midway through reading a stanza felt a bit broken, like it was interrupting the poet’s voice. (Reading the Ecc.3 bits afterwards didn’t have the same effect and they were well chosen.)

Possible alternate design – have the Ecc.3 lines beside the original poem, instead of placed in line with it? As it is, my eye tries to scan it as an additional line of the original poem. Maybe a second hidden column just to the left, right-aligned?

Thoughts for the future. Great work.

Was interested in structure, specifically. Form, I guess it should/could be called. Needed something kind to people with zero programming skills. Twine seemed to fit. You can do a lot with the basic linking thing, even if it looks like garbage. Structurally/formally, it’s dashed fun to play around with. Great for making proof of concept.

Guess I should add that I also came the long way around, with lots of roundabout searches on digital poetics coming up empty, and expanding the field to interactive fiction, and how those tools could be utilized to make poetry relevant again. Or blur the lines between a story or a poem. Make interactive word things.
