Was it a particular story that brought you to Twine? A person? A convention? A rumor? Share your story here.

I took the long way ’round.

I searched for information on old Infocom games.
That led me to a search for ‘text adventures’.
    Which led me to textadventures.uk
Which led me to the Quest authoring system and “Holy Crap! I can make my own games!”
While fiddling with Quest and using their forums, I eventually found a link to the IFDB.
Which led me to “OMFG! There’s a million different authoring systems I can use to make my own games!”

    And that’s how I found Twine. 😀

Ha ha ha. Makes sense! My path was just as round-the-way. Glad we all got to the same place in the end!

Wanted to make poems into games. Was interested in structure, specifically. Form, I guess it should/could be called. Needed something kind to people with zero programming skills. Twine seemed to fit. You can do a lot with the basic linking thing, even if it looks like garbage. Structurally/formally, it’s dashed fun to play around with. Great for making proof of concept.

Guess I should add that I also came the long way around, with lots of roundabout searches on digital poetics coming up empty, and expanding the field to interactive fiction, and how those tools could be utilized to make poetry relevant again. Or blur the lines between a story or a poem. Make interactive word things.
